The AICE Awards Head for Culver City Next Week

The AICE Awards, which are presented annually, rotates between three cities – New York, Chicago and Los Angeles – and in 2018 it’s the West Coast that gets to shine. More specifically, the spotlight will be on Culver City, where the awards venue, Unici Casa, is located.

The Unici Casa space, which hosts everything from corporate events to private parties, comprises 15,000 square feet and is home to a variety of beautiful, avant-garde objects that give it the feel of an art gallery or museum. The AICE Awards will be in good company when the doors open on Thursday evening, May 10, as Unici Casa has hosted events for NBC, Fox, the NFL Network and the luxury car brands Lamborghini and Maserati.

Spotted checked in with Yvette Cobarrubias-Sears of Cosmo Street and LaRue Anderson of Apache, who are leading the AICP West Chapter committee that’s organizing and producing the event, to find out what made Unici Casa the place for the 2018 Awards gala. “It’s the chandeliers!” says Yvette. “It’s a beautiful and glamorous venue with endless possibilities for the show. It's also in Culver City, which makes it well-located for our out-of-towners and still easily accessible for locals. It was the first venue we looked at, and we knew immediately it was for us.”

The organizers have lined up an MC for the evening, Molly Schreiber, who in addition to being a writer, actor and stand-up comedian who stars in her own sketches, she’s also a sought-after Soul Cycle instructor. She’s produced content for Funny or Die, Circa Laughs and various other media outlets, and her videos have racked up over 1.5 million views online. (Check out her Funny or Die videos here.)

A group of dedicated volunteers have been working for months to put the finishing touches on next week’s event, says LaRue, and she wanted to make sure they were acknowledged. “Our group of smart, hard-working, super-powered EPs includes Megan Dahlman of Cutters, Dawn Redman of Juice Studios, Crissy DeSimone of Arcade Edit and Susye Melega of Nomad Editorial,” she points out. “And of course, we’ve been working every step of the way with the formidable and brilliant Rachelle Madden! It’s going to be a great night, and we’re expecting a sell-out, so we’re urging everyone to book their tickets now.”

Unici Casa is located at 9461 Jefferson Blvd. in Culver City. Cocktails begin at 6:30, with the awards and Hall of Fame presentations kicking off at 7:30, followed by the post-awards reception at 10. For tickets and more information, check out the event page on the AICP web site here.
