Houston METRO Launches New Light Rail Cars
Tom Lambert, center, president & CEO, Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO), joined dignitaries including Houston Mayor Annise Parker Jan. 7 on board one of METRO’s six newest light rail vehicles. The ceremonial ride followed a ribbon-cutting event at the Downtown Transit Center. METRO has ordered 39 of the H3 cars from CAF USA; the cars will enter service in the weeks leading up to the opening of two new light rail lines in April and will bring the size of the light rail fleet to 76 cars.
