Amtrak Adds Weekend Acela Service

Amtrak recently increased its weekend high-speed Acela Express service in response to customer requests with the addition of a new Sunday round trip between New York City and Boston and more departures Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings.

“Acela Express has long been the preferred premium choice for travelers between Washington, New York and Boston,” said Mark Yachmetz, Amtrak vice president of Northeast Corridor business development. “Our responsibility is to listen to our customers and continually improve our product to make sure Amtrak is always recognized as a smarter way to travel.”

Amtrak also has contracted with Alstom to produce 28 next-generation high-speed trainsets that will add capacity on the corridor and eventually replace the existing Acela Express equipment.
