1981: APTA's First EXPO
This year’s APTA EXPO will be the 13th since 1981, when the first was held in Chicago. PT reported “rave reviews from exhibitors and attendees alike” for the event, at that time the first international public transit trade show held in the U.S. in more than 10 years. While that first EXPO convened 265 exhibitors and 5,500 visitors, the 2014 EXPO in Houston hosted 800 exhibitors in 270,000 square feet of exhibit space visited by more than 12,000 attendees from 65 countries. EXPO 2017 is on track to be even bigger.
