Sacramento RT Showcases Art

As part of the annual Wide Open Walls public arts festival in Sacramento, CA, the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) provided an exterior wall at one of its customer service and sales center locations to showcase a mural by Brazilian painter Mateus Bailon.

The mural design shows colorful birds in motion, traveling in one direction—like light rail trains—against a bright sky.

SacRT partnered with the Capitol Area Development Authority, a public agency that builds safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable urban neighborhoods, to provide space as part of a redevelopment effort in the corridor where the facility is located.

“The mission of Wide Open Walls is art for all,” said David Sobon, founder/producer of the program. “By adding another mural on SacRT’s building on R Street, we will help attract more visitors to this thriving neighborhood.”
