SEPTA Completes Redesign of Lansdale Transit Hub

Philadelphia’s Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) announced the recent completion of its newly redesigned bus terminus in the neighboring borough of Lansdale, PA, which will now serve as a major multimodal hub for the community.

SEPTA worked with the Lansdale government on the project, which will improve connections on two bus routes in proximity to the Lansdale Regional Rail Station. A future component of the project, the Liberty Bike Trail, will connect three SEPTA train stations over more than two miles.

SEPTA General Manager Jeffrey D. Knueppel said the Lansdale transit hub “provides a highly visible link for our passengers by improving access to transit in the center of the borough. By working with the borough, it was possible to create the dedicated busway for our service and relocate the loop right across from the station. This improves access to transit in the center of Lansdale and provides support for economic development opportunities.”

In additional to two new onsite bus shelters, the terminus offers new lighting along the street and in the shelters, new landscaping and improved signage, sidewalks and new curb ramps and drainage improvements. The project is part of the agency’s overall “Rebuilding the SEPTA System” capital improvement plan.
