Continental Opens Training Center in Clinton, MS

Continental, based in Allentown, PA, opened its new Employee Training Center in Clinton, MS, at recent ceremonies attended by Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant as well as federal, state and local officials.

The Training Center is the first completed structure on the site of the company’s future truck tire plant. The facility also will be used for the company’s sales team and for special events for Continental’s customers. The company expects to hire close to 400 employees by the time the tire plant officially starts production in 2020, increasing to approximately 2,500 jobs by 2028.

The governor noted that the training center “will facilitate jobs for Mississippians for years to come. … We are thrilled to have Continental Tire as a business partner.”

Michael Egner, project manager for Continental, said, “This is where our growth begins. The training center will support the recruitment and professional development that will drive the success of our employees in Clinton.”

In addition, Continental has entered into a partnership with Hinds Community College, the largest community college in Mississippi, that includes both training for a highly skilled workforce and ongoing training of the workforce as the plant expands.
