FTA Releases Fiscal Year 2013 Apportionment Notice

On Oct. 10, FTA released its Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 apportionment notice. The notice includes partial-year apportionments, as the federal government is currently operating under a six-month continuing resolution that expires on March 27, 2013. However, unlike past notices, it also provides extensive substantive guidance on implementation of new and revised transit programs under MAP-21 and the treatment of funds appropriated and allocated prior to FY 2013.

The notice will not be published in the Federal Register or on the FTA website until Oct. 16, but a copy of the notice is available here.

For questions on these issues, please contact Brian Tynan.

Upgrading the APTA Website

APTA is always looking for ways to improve our services to our members. And one recent one is upgrading our collaboration websites for committees and other features you use, such as the member forums. But we’ve heard that some of you may have had challenges accessing the website.

If so, you will need to delete your old cookies!

During the upgrade, some of those cookies “crumbled” for some site visitors. To get a new cookie to correct the issue, you need to remove the existing ones. You can follow the directions here. Once you’ve deleted your cookies, you should be able to revisit the APTA website, login, and a new cookie will be placed on your machine.

If you continue to have issues, please don’t hesitate to contact Jeff Popovich or Helene Brett, who will be happy to help you.

If you’re not experiencing any issues with the site, you don’t need to do anything.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding while we continue to strive to improve services to our members.

Why bother with driving when you can take public transit? That's the lesson shared by the author of this Minneapolis Star-Tribune op-ed, who recently returned to the Twin Cities after living nine years on the East Coast.

Thanks to grocery delivery service Peapod, passengers on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's commuter rail system can place orders with their smartphones while waiting for their train. According to Wicked Local Canton, the process is as simple as scanning a QR code and UPC codes for 50 common grocery items from billboards placed in 15 MBTA stations.
