Obama Connects Transportation Infrastructure and Jobs in SOTU Speech

President Obama said that investments in transportation infrastructure create jobs in his State of the Union speech on Jan. 29. Congress must act to pass transportation bills, he said. APTA President & CEO Michael Melaniphy said in a statement that APTA and its 1,500 members "applaud President Obama for emphasizing the connection between American jobs and transportation infrastructure investment."

Foxx: Integrating Multimodality a Primary Transportation Issue

DOT Secretary Foxx told the U.S. Conference of Mayors on Jan. 23 that integrating all modes of transportation will be among the defining transportation issues of the 21st century. Expanding cities and suburbs need more mobility choices, he said.  


FTA Awards $886.3 million to NY MTA

FTA has awarded $886.3 million to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority to repair and rebuild infrastructure that was damaged in Hurricane Sandy. The grant builds on an initial allotment of $193.9 million announced by FTA in March.
