Foxx: A Bill Can Pass This Summer

DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx said that passing a surface transportation bill can certainly happen this summer. "I don't buy that this can't be done, and can't be done quickly," he said in an interview on April 17. "At the same time, we've said all along that we're open to other pay-fors, we're open to ideas that Congress has."

APTA Members Sweep TSA's 'Gold Standard' Security Awards

The TSA gave its 'Gold Standard Award' to six public transit agencies for their dedication to building a strong security program. All winners are APTA members: Sound Transit, in Seattle, WA; Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, in Buffalo, NY; Hampton Roads Transit, in Hampton, VA; South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, in Pompano Beach, FL; Valley Metro, in Phoenix, AZ; and Capital District Transportation Authority, in Albany, NY.

Transit Savings Climb as Gas Prices Rise

Individuals who ride public transit instead of owning and driving a car can save, on average, more than $848 this month and $10,174 annually, according to APTA's April Transit Savings Report. Gas prices are 33 cents higher per gallon than in February.
