2015 Joanne Angle Investigator Award – a research grant by Prevent Blindness

Deadline: March 6, 2015 at 12pm U.S. Eastern Time 

The 2015 Joanne Angle Investigator Award provides funding for research investigating public health related to eye health and safety. Applications will be accepted in the following priority areas in adult vision, children’s vision or eye injury: 

  • Burden/economic aspects of eye disease/vision loss on society
  • Best practices to integrate vision screening/follow up care to system care access
  • Vision program effectiveness/

Basic laboratory science research will not be supported under this program.

Grants are for a one-year period, up to $30,000, reviewed by a panel of scientists, and commence on July 1, 2015.

ARVO President William F. Mieler, MD, FARVO, is the Cless Family Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Beebe is honored with endowed lectureship
Washington University, with funds from friends and colleagues, established the Dr. David C. Beebe Lecture; Russell Van Gelder, MD, PhD, presented the first lecture on inner retinal photoreception.
Graves and Takahashi to be honored at Glaucoma 360
The Glaucoma Research Foundation will present awards to Adrienne Graves, PhD, an industry leader in ophthalmology, and Masayo Takahashi, MD, PhD, FARVO, a 2014 stem cell person of the year and Nature top 10 researcher.
Researchers at Anglia Ruskin University win best paper
The study, Obstacle crossing in patients with glaucoma, won Best Free Paper at the UK and Eire Glaucoma Society’s annual congress.

U.S. panel develops recommendations for children’s vision and eye health
A panel of experts from the National Center for Children’s Vision and Eye Health at Prevent Blindness address the need to create a more uniform approach to children’s vision health systems in the U.S. Recommendations are published in Optometry and Vision Science
Undergrads: Apply for free summer program at York University
Undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in research are eligible to apply for the week-long program on vision science — all expenses paid. Deadline is Feb. 15.
