Update from the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics

Summer’s passing by far too quickly, as we are already in the midst of producing our fall issue of the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics. In the meantime, we hope you’re enjoying the latest issue of JLME, our summer issue, which addresses current legal, policy, and ethical issues in stem cell research. The numerous articles in “Law and Innovation: The Embryonic Stem Cell Controversy” discuss how law plays a role in the development of this research—or as Guest Editor John A. Robertson calls it, “science policy.”  You can find this issue—as well as back issues—on our website.

For our next issue Lawrence O. Gostin and Emily Mok will be guest editing a new symposium entitled “Global Health Law.” These articles explore the need for a global approach to issues such as communicable diseases and access to pain medication—and addresses issues that will affect the implementation of this new framework. It is always a pleasure working with Professors Gostin and Mok, so we are especially excited to bring this new issue to you in the fall.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact Ted Hutchinson, Editor of JLME, at We welcome your thoughts and suggestions.
