JLME Update

Happy New Year! This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics, and also the 100th anniversary of the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics! We are excited to publish a history of the journal written by Executive Director and JLME Editor Ted Hutchinson. Included will be perspectives from former editors and staff members at ASLME. Thank you to all of those who have contributed to and been involved with making JLME a leading inter-disciplinary journal.

We are currently working on JLME 40.1, a special anniversary issue. This issue introduces a new symposium guest edited by Robert M. Sade: “The Graying of America: Challenges and Controversies.” First presented at the 16th Annual Thomas A. Pitts Memorial Lectureship, the articles address ethical issues in the often overlooked health care of the elderly population—end-of-life decision making, age-based rationing, family-centered care approaches, and social justice and inequities in health care access, among other important topics. Be sure to also check out our independent articles—articles cover public health, medical malpractice, and clinical trials, among other topics.

As always, we look forward to hearing from you. Please send us your comments or suggestions to help improve your experience reading JLME. Thank you for your continued support.
