Member Spotlight: Doug Campos-Outcalt

One of our latest additions to the ASLME board is Doug Campos-Outcalt, Chair for the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Phoenix, Department of Family, Community and Preventive Medicine. "We are very excited – and extremely lucky – to have Doug serve on our Board of Directors. He brings years of experience and a passion for the multidisciplinary world of medicine and law to our board, which is a cornerstone of our work at ASLME. We are so grateful for his service," says Executive Director Ted Hutchinson.

Dr. Campos-Outcalt’s array of experience in the fields of medicine and public health makes him a wonderful addition to the ASLME board. In addition to his duties at the University of Arizona, he serves as Director of the MD/MPH program and Director of the Preventive Medicine/Public Health theme in the medical school’s curriculum.

Dr. Campos-Outcalt has been teaching for more than 25 years and has been the associate chair of Family and Community Medicine since 2003. His numerous accomplishments also include serving as the Deputy Director of the Arizona Department of Health Services and as the Medical Director of the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. He was also a public health consultant for two years to the country of Papua New Guinea. Lastly, he also worked as a family physician in Guadalupe and South Tucson, two underserved communities in Arizona.

We are looking forward to working more with Dr. Campos-Outcalt this coming year as a new board member.
