ASLME Welcomes New Board Members

The American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics pleased to announce the addition of three wonderful new members to our Board of Directors. Each of these individuals have been a longtime friend of ASLME, and they will be joining an already exceptional group of leaders in making a positive and  long-lasting contribution to ASLME and its work.

Our first new board member is Aaron S. Kesselheim, M.D., J.D., M.P.H.. Kesselheim is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL) in the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He was also Co-Chair (along with fellow ASLME Board  Member David Orentlicher) of the Society's 2011 “Conflicts of Interest in the Practice of Medicine” conference, and with David co-edited the symposium issue of JLME that came out of the conference. Finally, Kesselheim is also a frequent contributor to JLME, and he has an article appearing in the Winter issue.  More about Aaron can be found here.

Our next new member is Lindsay F. Wiley, J.D. M.P.H. Wiley is an Associate Professor of Law at Washington College of Law at American University in Washington, D.C.. She has been a longtime friend and supporter of ASLME and has spoken at many ASLME conferences. Her work has also appeared in JLME. Wiley's relationship with ASLME began when she was in law school. She joined the staff as a resercher and later started editing for JLME. Since that time she has remained a great friend of the Society. More about Wiley can be found here.

Finally, we are pleased to introduce Seth Axelrad, J.D. Axelrad is Senior Council in Regulatory Law at Baxter International. Baxter describes itself as “A global healthcare company with expertise in medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology with over 61,000 employees.” Axelrad has an M.A. in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins and a J.D. from Harvard, and before Baxter he was an associate at Sidley Austin’s Health Law group in Chicago. Axelrad was also briefly an intern at ASLME during the mid-2000s, and he has remained a great friend of the Society since that time.
