It is not enough to shed tears for those who suffer the tragedy of sexual abuse, nor will much be accomplished nurturing hatred and devising punishments for those who sexually abuse. Only by sharing knowledge, providing training, exchanging ideas, and challenging traditional beliefs and biases can we respond effectively to sexual victimization.
~ Jan Hindman
Dear ATSA Colleagues:
It is with great sadness that we write to inform our membership of the recent and unexpected passing of Jan Hindman. Jan was not only a founding member and Past President of ATSA and a fierce advocate for community safety, she was a true friend and colleague who never once lost her commitment, passion, or sense of humor. ATSA and her many fans will miss her.
The Winter 2008 issue of the Forum will include a number of pieces and tributes to Jan. However, we thought that all ATSA members would want to know of this great loss.
Dear ATSA Members:
Cory Jewell Jensen and Jim Haaven will be writing a piece about Jan for the next ATSA Forum, to be published early in the New Year. Cory has asked me to solicit thoughts, memories, etc. about Jan for her and Jim to consider in putting their piece together. Can you please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org (or me at email@example.com) if you have anything to contribute?
Thanks to all,
Robin J. Wilson
Editor, ATSA Forum
