Transfer of Fire District Employees to Annexing Cities (ESHB 2938)

If you have pending annexations or are contemplating an annexation, please take a close look at the language in this bill and how it might impact your employment practices and collective bargaining responsibilities as well as the language requiring adoption of legislative findings. Please share your concerns with us and your senator, particularly if he or she sits on the Senate Government Operations & Elections Committee. See Personnel & Labor Relations.

Wrongful Death Causes of Action (E3SHB 1873)

If your Senator serves on the Senate Government Operations & Elections Committee, please contact them to express concern with the substantial increased liability costs for services we provide that are inherently risky, such as police, fire, and offender supervision. See Law & Justice.

Taping of Executive Sessions (HB 3292)

This bill did not move out of the House of Representatives prior to the cut-off date, therefore the bill is considered dead for this year. Cities and many other local government groups worked hard to keep this bill from moving forward. Thank you for responding to our Action Alerts on this bill. Your calls and emails to your legislators are very important. If your legislators were helpful, please take some time very soon to thank them for their support. See General Local Government.
