Powerful New AWI Web Site Now Open!

What’s the latest new service from AWI? It’s a new and improved, revamped and redesigned Web site featuring expanded content re-organized by visitor type – architectural woodworkers, design professionals and suppliers.

Take a cruise around the site, www.awinet.org. AWI has improved the Web site’s functionality, upgraded the navigation to more easily find information, and created a public face for AWI to the design/build industry. The new site elevates the profile of woodworkers and suppliers and enhances their interface with design professionals.

All AWI members in good standing should have received their access codes to the "Members Area" of the site to find exclusive access to AWI e-Learning: Always On and a new Safety Solutions portal as a benefit of AWI membership. Your personal username and password has changed.  New Log In codes were sent to all members in good standing on November 1, 2011.

Tell us what you think! AWI is still ironing out minor technical issues, so if you notice any, please contact the office at 571-323-3636 or at info@awinet.org. AWI needs to hear from you, if you experience any difficulties.

Enjoy your cruise around the new AWI Web site, www.awinet.org. Make the Most of Your AWI Membership!

Lessons from the CODB Survey

Did you know that...the AWI Cost of Doing Business Survey (CODBS) breaks down financial results into many categories so that you can effectively compare your own results to the industries?

This includes a breakdown by company size, region, profitability, number of employees, manufacturing space, and more. Of course, your results are always kept anonymous since the benchmarks are determined based on common-size averages, where the financials are converted to a percentage of Sales/Assets and then the arithmetic average of the respondent’s results are calculated. This ensures the safety of your financials and valuable data with which to make business decisions.

Plan to participate in the 2012 Cost of Doing Business Survey to take your business to the next level.

Looking for business exposure and opportunities to promote wood as a beautiful, sustainable component of building projects?

Showcase your projects in Design Solutions Magazine and win recognition as an Aware of Excellence honoree. Here is an example of a summer AOE winner – Colecraft Commerical Finishings.

Pictured here is a project by Colecraft Commercial Finishings of Falconer, NY for the offices of Efficient Capital Management in Warrenville, IL. The moveable wall (shown here) between the library and board room was challenging due to its size and weight. Colecraft fabricated and installed the millwork using Mahogany, Sapele, Walnut and Oak. Other views of the architectural woodwork throughout this project can be seen in the summer 2011 issue of Design Solutions. The firm is located in Dallas, TX.
