About QCP

AWI QCP 2014: A Very Good Year—Find Out Why

By Tricia Roberts, QCC Senior Director of Operations

As the chart below illustrates, the Quality Certification Program (QCP) experienced growth in key categories of activity for 2014.  In particular, the 24% spike in project registrations indicates the historic level of acceptance achieved by the Program among project designers and owners. Certified projects are up 5% compared with 2013.  Licensees continue to enjoy the advantage of pre-qualification when bidding projects which specify QCP certification.

The AWI Quality Certification Program (QCP) is a valuable quality assurance tool that ensures custom, interior architectural woodwork, one of the most highly visible aspects of many construction projects. Launched in 1995, the QCP is endorsed by the American Subcontractors Association (ASA). For information about the program and licensing, visit

Outlook for 2015: New Directions in Education Outreach

As he takes over as AWI President, Kent Gilchrist of Fremont Interiors will focus on broadening AWI’s Education Outreach program.  Cognizant of past successful efforts and AWI core education offerings, Mr. Gilchrist told AWI NewsBriefs this month that “the plan is designed to assure that AWI’s education initiatives and delivery methods are progressing in an appropriate direction.  Going forward, our education program may be more structured than in the past, focusing on who our customer is and the benefits and type of education they are seeking delivered in formats that are convenient to them.”

The 2015 AWI Board of Directors will review the final plan this month at their meeting.   Once the plan is official, the Education Committee “will review existing education programs to determine those that are strongest and have a life cycle.  We need to be relevant to our industry’s expectations today and in the future,” Mr. Gilchrist said.

What’s on the drawing boards concerning digital media resources and new technologies?  For a hint at what’s coming, see the lead article, “Broadening AWI’s Education Outreach,” in the January edition of AWI NewsBriefs. A print copy of AWI’s monthly print newsletter will arrive at member companies around January 15.  Meanwhile, read it here.
