White House Delays Mandatory E-Verify for Federal Projects

The controversial electronic system mandating that employers verify eligibility of employees to work in the U.S. using E-Verify has been delayed again.  The White House has postponed until June 30, 2009 the deadline for compliance with the E-Verify rule that will apply to government contractors and subcontractors.

The delay, published in the April 17th issue of the Federal Register, provides the Obama administration more time to review the rule.  [Return to top]
