Construction Employment Down by 27,000 in November

In the construction industry job losses had averaged 117,000 per month during the six months ending in April and 63,000 per month from May through October. In November, the 27,000 construction job losses were concentrated among nonresidential specialty trade contractors, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The BLS Employment Situation Summary released on December 4 noted that the unemployment rate edged down to 10.0% in November. For the full report, click here.  [Return to top]
