Vital Signs Improving for the Economy and Housing

There are a number of positive signs of recovery from a long, hard recession, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). NAHB bases its forecast on such indicators as GDP, industrial production, inventory reduction, and employment.

NAHB reports that the first-time home buyer tax credit is working, inventories of unsold homes are continuing to fall, and housing prices are showing some life. Multifamily construction continues to struggle, however, as it faces stiff competition "from single-family rental market and significant obstacles to const5ruction financing that began in 2008."
