ASA Publishes Health Care Report about New Law

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590) became law on March 23 after months of contentious debate. So how does it affect small businesses?

Some provisions will affect businesses immediately while others will be phased in over the next several years. The American Subcontractors Association (ASA) has published an analysis, ASA Special Report: Health Care 2010. The report explains the law’s creation of small-business health plan "exchanges" and tax credits; its mandates and penalties; and its changes to the tax code, including tax-advantaged medical accounts.

For more information, contact ASA at 703.684.3450, Ext. 1333, or GovernmentRelations@asa-hq.com. Access is available to ASA members.

In addition, The Wall Street Journal (paid subscription) published a summary of the major elements of the law and their effective dates. Visit www.wsj.com to research the archives.
