Latest Winter 2017/18 SABMag packed with building examples, the 2018 Product Directory, and ‘Next Gen’ sustainability

Will 2018 be the year Canada takes resilience seriously?

Hurricane Harvey inundated Houston, Texas, then Hurricane Maria tore through the Caribbean islands, causing immense damage in Puerto Rico. While it’s true that hurricanes hitting Canada are extremely rare, this topic is a focus area for the University of Western Ontario’s resilience research lab and its work on how wind affects structures shortly after Harvey and Irma. The lab is trying to understand the point at which heavy windstorm structures become unstable and the best ways to make them wind-resilient.
