Join Us for the Making the Case for Building To Zero Carbon Webinar

Date: June 12, 2019
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. EST
Location: Online
Duration: 2 hours

There needs to be a business case to support the uptake of zero carbon buildings in the public and private sectors in Canada. With this in mind, the CaGBC worked with several funding partners as well as WSP to study the incremental capital and lifecycle costs associated with zero carbon building design and construction. This session will explore the results of that study, including the impacts of seven building types in six cities in Canada.

This session will be delivered by Mark Hutchinson of CaGBC and Antoni Paleshi of WSP.

BLC2018_eBlast_Buttons_large_Register.jpgMark Hutchinson has worked with the Canada Green Building Council for the last ten years. As Vice President of Green Building Programs and Innovation, he oversees a number of certification programs. He has helped shape the LEED program while serving as a member and chair of the USGBC’s LEED Steering Committee and he has directed the delivery of certification services in Canada, with a focus on the customer experience. Mark oversaw the development of the Zero Carbon Buildings program, which was the first of several national programs developed by green building councils around the world.

BLC2018_eBlast_Buttons_large_Register.jpgAntoni Paleshi is the practice leader of WSP’s Canadian Building Performance Analysis Team with 15 years of experience in the field. He specializes in the design, simulation and evaluation of building energy efficiency measures with experience leading teams towards high-performance buildings in all major sectors. His simulation work has been primarily delivered using EE4 and eQUEST, but he also has experience with IES, TRNSYS and Energy Plus and has written custom-designed calculation engines for building energy and carbon emissions analysis. Antoni’s broader consulting expertise includes enclosure design, energy and water measurement and verification, indoor air quality design, and environmental life cycle assessment. Antoni also has a passion for corporate sustainability action and has helped to lead WSP’s office in Kitchener, Ontario towards low-carbon operations for the past 10 years. Antoni is an experienced energy modeler and listed on the CaGBC Experienced Modelers List.
