Hinkley Chosen as AHCA/NCAL Future Leader
By Lisa Foss Olson

Morgan Hinkley, administrator at Mala Strana Health Care Center, has been chosen by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as a future leader in long-term care. Hinkley will participate in AHCA/NCAL’s “Future Leaders of Long-Term Care in America” symposium, to be held next month in Washington, D.C.

Morgan Hinkley“The Future Leaders program is designed to build up the future leadership of the profession with a base of promising professionals. I am proud that Morgan has been selected to join the 2011-2012 class,” stated Patti Cullen, CEO and President, Care Providers of Minnesota. "We have been honored these past couple of years to have a few members from our Association “graduate” from this program, most recently Christine Bakke, Cyndi Seiwert, and Mark Anderson. It is exciting that Morgan will now be part of this vital program and influential group.”

Morgan is a graduate of the UW-Eau Claire Health Care Administration program. She completed an internship with Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh in 2006 and served as interim activity director at Bethel Home (part of the Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh campus) for three months before making the move to Minnesota. In February of 2007, she accepted the position of administrator of Mala Strana Health Care Center (part of the Thro Company).

An administrator of a nursing facility was not what Morgan had planned for her life. She initially set off for college with a business-focused degree in mind; however, that didn’t appease her appetite for health care. She later declared her major in nursing, but still felt something was missing. After meeting with Dr. Jennifer Johs-Artisensi, associate professor of the UW-Eau Claire HCAD program, she found her calling.

Morgan stated that she is thankful to the Thro Company for having the confidence in her and making her a part of their team at such an early point in her career.

Morgan serves on Care Providers of Minnesota’s Quality Council and has been a contributor to our quarterly Quality in Action newsletter.

Congratulations, Morgan Hinkley.
