Why Bad Webinars Happen to Good People
Good Webinars utilize reliable e-meeting rooms that offer dynamic features, such as whiteboards, text chats and live polls. Dependable sound during a Webinar is also critical; we usually recommend offering attendees a dial-in audio option, which is more dependable than VoIP/Internet speaker sound.
Now comes the people part. Different rules apply for presenting online versus in-person seminars. To keep audiences engaged, presenters need to be prepared – thoroughly familiar with their content and comfortable using all of the features of your e-meeting room platform. This takes practice: timing the delivery of the presentations, smoothly handing off to other speakers and spending time using the technology before the live Webinar.
Bad Webinars occur when all of these components do not come together smoothly. A Webinar is not just sharing presentation slides, it is a true event. Even the most seasoned Webinar leaders should continually rehearse their e-presentations and keep up on technology features.
The rapid sellout registration for CommPartners’ most recent Webinar for ASAE & The Center members “Strategies for Effective Online Events” points to how more organizations are beginning to adopt this communications method.
Additionally, we're leading the same "Strategies" session for a live audience at NEASE's annual meeting in June. It's not just Webinar novices that are attending; there is ongoing interest, from those already holding Web seminars. These organizations want to continue to incorporate new features, improve the professionalism and are aware of the value in being coached through the process.
