Diversity Challenges
The United States is the most ethnically diverse country on earth. Increases in Hispanic, Asian and African-American populations are expected to make the Caucasian English-speaking population a minority by the middle of the 21st century.
In the United States: for every white English-speaking person who dies, 0.9 are born in or immigrate to the United States. Among:
- African-Americans, this ratio is 1 to 1.7
- Hispanics, this ratio is 1 to 11.7
- Asians, this ratio is more than 1 to 20.
The face of the United States is changing from coast to coast, and in the heartland. Embracing the new cross-cultural workforce isn’t a secret of the best run, most admired companies; it’s there for every business that wants to survive in the 21st century.
