No Techno - Geeks Here!

Does the thought of learning SQL make you break out in a sweat? Not to worry, that’s NOT what the HR Technology committee is all about.

We are a group of HR professionals who happen to support the technology of HR at our companies, but we’re not programmers or IT. The goal of the committee is to educate and inform HRMA members on the current trends and value of HR technology in a knowledge based profession. In doing so, we hope to help organizations meet their strategic business goals. Best Practice examples of HR technology are shared at monthly meetings with either a committee member or guest leading the discussion. Some of our past topics included:

  • Performance Management
  • On line training
  • Document imaging
  • The use of HR technology to develop Talent Management
  • Applicant Tracking
  • Learning Management Systems
  • Best Practices in HRIS management reporting
  • E-recruiting

The HR Technology committee is sponsoring the HRMA webinar on October 25th, 2006 at 11 am. The topic will be "Talent and Performance Management for Business Results". The convergence of performance management and HR technology has been rapidly developing and HR professionals need to be conversant in this trend.  Performance management and related metrics are common ground for operations, human resources, finance, leadership and individual contributors, providing ongoing feedback to show what needs to be improved. Boards and shareholders have turned to HR leaders to develop and execute performance initiatives that produce measurable business results from their investment in talent. Performance management transforms business strategy into an actionable plan with aligned day-to-day tasks that are communicated organization-wide. Performance measurement assesses progress toward achieving predetermined goals and harnesses data to ensure it works in service to organizational goals, providing information that is actually useful in achieving them.

Member benefits for the HR Technology committee include meeting some really great people, establishing valuable contacts, and learning about Best Practices as well as new innovations in HR Technology. New members are always encouraged to join our monthly meetings. Some of the topics for the upcoming year are:

  • HR scorecard
  • turnover, leadership development
  • building a data warehouse
  • data mining, HR web site
  • HR portal, document imaging
  • paperless HR

If you would like more information on the HR Technology committee, please contact the committee chairperson, Audrey Wagie, or call at 262-250-5908. Our next scheduled meeting will be on Thursday, September 21 at 7:30 a.m. at the Panera Bread store in Menomonee Falls. The address is W176N9240 Rivercrest Drive.
