The first Scientific Meeting for the Iraqi Association for Oral Research (IAOR), the Iraqi Section of the IADR was held in London, England, May 24-26. The meeting was attended by nearly 50 delegates, including Iraqi dental academics from Mosul University, Baghdad University, Mustansiriyah University and Anbar University, in addition to Iraqi dentists working in the UK, Europe and America.

The program was a mixture of lectures by international speakers and presentations of original research papers. During the opening session, IADR President E. Dianne Rekow presented to the audience about the opportunities and benefits of becoming an IADR member. Anwar R. Tappuni, the founder and the president of the IADR Iraqi Section, highlighted the importance of the role that the section can play in promoting oral research in Iraq and fostering international collaboration. Future activities of the Iraqi Section will be built on the success of this milestone conference to ensure advancement and longevity of the Association.
