Welcome to CESoc World

This is CESoc World, Vol6, 3rd edition.   The mission of this eZine is to provide you with timely awareness and easy to use navigation to society resources, news, and announcements.

NEW!

Did you miss ICCE2017 in Las Vegas in January?

Our amazing video crew already has some content up on our IEEE CE TV WebSite and will be adding more in the next few weeks.  Keep watching!

Also we are making available the full set of conference papers in the form of a CDRoM image download.  You can purchase link to the download using your  credit card for US$20 at http://digest2017.ieee-cesoc.org

In February we started offering our members a downloadable version of our magazine suitable for offline reading as well as a version to read online in your browser.

If you have not yet checked this out, the January 2017 edition is now available.  The table of contents of the January 2017 issue is listed below and a downloadable version is available by clicking on one of the links below..

Click here to read the January issue magazine in your browser

Click here to download the January issue magazine to your computer

The new April issue hard copy has been mailed out and is being processed for soon to be available online posting

Also below you will find the table of contents of our current Nov 2016 edition of our Transaction.  After signing into Xplore your CESoc membership gives you unlimited free access to the full source of papers published in our Consumer Electronics Transactions and our Consumer Electronics Magazine.

By popular request, we have changed the format to bring the popular table of contents of our two publications up to the front of this newsletter.  Other notices and reference material have been replaced with links to the content.

We have added facility for interactivity and encourage all readers to provide feedback to either of our two editors in charge of our IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics and/or IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine.  Interesting comments may be republished in our magazine in a future edition.  Click on one of the two links above to send your feedback, comments, and/or letters to the editors.

We have created a new webpage with a list of CESoc publications available to members at a discounted rate over general IEEE members.  Visit the webpage at http://pubs.ieee-cesoc.org

As you will see below the society is trying to better serve you with initiatives in several parallel efforts:

  • More conferences, geographically distributed to facilitate lower cost travel access to more members.  Please take the poll to the right to give us feedback.
  • More publications to cover the ever expanding scope of the consumer electronics industry and technology
  • More local chapters to provide opportunities for professional development and networking.  If you are interested in starting a local chapter, contact our VP International Affairs Sunj-Je Ko.

Also if you are looking for a speaker at one of your local meetings BoG member Wahab Almuhtadi is coordinating a list of distinguished speakers that are available to visit CESoc local chapters and deliver a lecture on their topic of expertise.  The CESoc BoG covers the travel expense of our distinguished speakers so if you are interested in arranging a talk at a local chapter meeting, please contact Wahab.

Check out IEEE CESoc TV for video interviews with our society and conference officers and VIPs.  You will also find videos of selected keynote presentations from our conferences.  Newly posted are videos from our January ICCE Flagship conference just completed in Las Vegas.  You will find some exciting keynotes, tutorial presentations, and selected author interviews.  If you could not attend, these videos are the next best thing!

CESoc World is designed for current awareness but if you are interested you  can find previous issues of this eZine  CESoc World at this URL.

We hope you find this eZine to be of value and invite comments and suggestions on how we can make this tool more interesting and useful to you.  Of course at anytime surf to the CESoc home page for the most complete portal to The Consumer Electronics Society.

Regards, Stu

Reader Poll of the Month
Where Should CESoc Hold Future Conferences?

Our flagship conference is the January International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE) and is held each year in Las Vegas.  However,  in order to provide more opportunities for our members and friends to attend conferences when January travel to Las Vegas is not possible, we have vastly expanded the number of conference geographic locations.  At the same time, we have added new conferences which focus on specific fields of interest to allow deep dives into specific topics of interest.  Please click through to take the poll on the right and let us know your geographic preferences for CESoc conferences.

2016 ICCE Las Vegas Selected CESoc TV Videos

If you were not able to attend our 2016 or 2017 ICCE flagship conferences in Las Vegas in January you missed an exceptional series of keynotes and tutorials mixed with contributed papers that explored the future of consumer electronics technology.  You can look to IEEE Xplore to view digests of the contributed papers but the keynotes and tutorials do not post on Xplore.  However, our multimedia crew has prepared full length videos of keynotes and tutorials from ICCE2016 and posted them on our IEEE CESoc TV  website.  Material from ICCE2017 is a work in process and will be posted soon.  A sample of what you will find on CESoc TV is shown below but visit the site at IEEE CESoc TV  for event more.

Stay tuned for upcoming content from ICCE2017 starting this week.  You can purchase a download of the ICCE2017 conference digest CDRoM image at digest2017.ieee-cesoc.org

Publications
Table of Contents Current IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine

This magazine is our new publication that we hope you will find complementary to our flagship IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics.  Just like our Transactions, the magazine will feature quality peer reviewed technical articles and will also include departments to cover society news and current events.  The magazine differs from the transactions in that while the transactions strives to disseminate research of an archival nature while the magazine will focus on tutorials and papers on general timely technology topics.

The Consumer Electronics Society greatly appreciates the hard work and creativity of our founding magazine editor Peter Corcoran.  Peter will remain in the loop as he assists our new Editor in Chief to transition into his new role.  Look for information in the magazine for an introduction to our new EiC Saraju Mohanty of The University of North Texas.

Papers in IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine are peer reviewed and our editor is looking for quality authors to provide quality papers for review.   If interested contact our new magazine editor Saraju Mohanty

Advertising opportunities are available for you to reach engineers and those with an interest in the consumer electronics industry.  For more information contact our business development manager Mark David by email or telephone +1.732.465.6473.

The full content of the magazine is on IEEE Xplore with access included in your CESoc membership dues.  Click on this link to navigate to the current issue on IEEE Xplore and be prepared to log into your IEEE membership account with your user name and password.  The new April issue is being converted to a  full source version of the magazine to read online or download to your PC and should be ready soon.  The previous January 2017issue is still available via the links below.
