The IEEE Vehicular Technology Private Land Mobile Radio
Committee invites industry and practitioner engineers, scientists, researchers,
applied researchers, and academics specializing in Private Land Mobile Radio
fields of interest such as public safety communications to join a community of
The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, originally formed to
serve the Private Land Mobile Radio technical community, is one of the oldest
IEEE Societies and was derived within the Institute of Radio Engineers before
the merger with the IEE in the 1950’s.
This community will create and deliver content for print and
electronic media and for events either in-person or networked. Efforts may
include organizing workshops at our flagship VTC conference, special issues at
our publications, educational material in technical areas of PLMR, and other
activities. Content will take the form of research, applied research or
applications with topics within the field of interest, including voice communications,
radio physical layer channel coding and optimization including interference
detection and mitigation, radio spectrum usage and optimization, data and voice
traffic management, trunked radio systems engineering, LTE layering over PLMR
networks, network operations, microwave radio and fiber optics front haul and
back haul, sensors, and wearables, among others.
The committee will meet via WebEx or GoToMeeting on a
regular basis and could meet face-to-face during the two Vehicular Technology
Conferences held each year. The Committee may also meet at other industry
events such as the International Wireless Communications Expo, Association of
Police Communications Professionals, 3GPP and Mobile World.
Please contact Bob Shapiro at email@example.com or (214) 448-4818 (mobile)
to join the committee.
