RoP summary and resources

On September 28, 2016, CMS released the final rule on the Requirements of Participation, Medicare and Medicaid Programs; Reform of Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities. The final rule was published in the Federal Register on October 4, 2016.

AHCA has developed a summary of the final rule to assist members in understanding and implementing the requirements. Please refer to the executive summary of the document for further details about the content. To access the summary, please visit RequirED on ahcancalED and click on Summary-Final Rule. The summary is free to all members and you must log in to view it. (Use the same username and password as you use to access members-only pages on the AHCA website. If you have trouble downloading the document, make sure you have enabled pop-ups from ahcancalED in Chrome or consider using Internet Explorer.)

AHCA will be providing additional educational materials and tools to assist members throughout the implementation process.
CMS is offering an Open Door Forum on the new requirements of participation on Thursday, October 27 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Central Time. For details and to register, visit CMS' MLN Connects site.

In addition, on September 16 the final rule, Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Participating Providers and Suppliers, was posted in the Federal Register. This impacts skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies. See the IHCA Bulletin article, Final rule posted for disaster preparedness, for details and links
