Solicitation for 2018-2019 IHCA, ICAL and ICHC Board candidates

The 2018-2019 election cycle has officially opened for Iowa Health Care Association members in good standing who are interested in serving on their respective boards. Below is a timeline for the nomination and election process. Scroll further down to find the nomination requirements for the IHCA, ICAL and ICHC board positions.

    Election Process Timeline

    • Member solicitations will be open until July 10.
    • The Board Nominating Committee Meeting is July 11.
    • The slate of potential candidates will be announced via The Bulletin July 12–August 26.
    • Electronic voting opens on August 27.
    • Electronic voting closes on September 25.
    • New board leaders will be announced at the IHCA ICAL ICHC Annual Meeting, October 2 at the IHCA Annual Convention.

    Iowa Health Care Association - IHCA Board Candidates
    Candidates are needed for five officer seats advocating for nursing and skilled nursing facilities:

    • IHCA Chair
    • Three (3) IHCA Vice-Chairs
    • IHCA Secretary/Treasurer
    • Six (6) IHCA Directors-at-Large

    IHCA members interested in running or nominating a candidate for any of the IHCA Board seats must contact an IHCA Nominating Committee member by July 10:

    IHCA candidates must possess the following qualifications:

    • A qualified candidate for all officer positions (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary/Treasurer) must have been a member of the IHCA Board of Directors at least one of the last three years. This does not apply to the Director-at-Large positions.
    • For all IHCA board positions, the candidate must be employed at a member nursing facility or a corporation, partnership or organization that owns a nursing facility affiliated with the Iowa Health Care Association.
    • The member facility must be in good standing with the Association by meeting all of the following criteria: (1) has paid all dues, fees, and other charges due to the Association; (2) has all necessary licenses, permits, and authorizations to conduct its business in full force; and (3) is in compliance with all requirements imposed upon the member under the Bylaws, as well as, any other rules, policies and procedures of IHCA.

    Iowa Center for Assisted Living - ICAL Board Candidates
    Candidates are needed for five officer seats advocating for an assisted living facility, residential care facility and senior housing center:

    • ICAL Chair
    • Two (2) ICAL Vice-Chairs
    • ICAL Secretary
    • IHCA Treasurer
    • Four (4) ICAL Directors-at-Large

    ICAL members interested in running or nominating a candidate for any of the ICAL Board seats will need to contact an ICAL Nominating Committee member by July 10:

    Candidates are needed for four officer seats advocating for a home health or private duty agency. They are as follows:

    • ICHC Chair
    • One (1) ICHC Vice-Chair
    • ICHC Secretary
    • IHCA Treasurer
    • Four (4) ICHC Directors-at-Large

    ICHC members interested in running or nominating a candidate for any of the ICHC Board seats will need to contact an ICHC Nominating Committee member by July 10. The ICHC Nominating Committee members are:

    ICHC candidates must possess the following qualifications:
