Dear Members,

January 2008 marks the premiere issue of The Forum e-newsletter.  We hope that you enjoy the many articles contained in this issue, as well as the convenient benefits of this new HTML format.  In addition to some outstanding articles on Service Continuity and Financial Management, this issue also debuts two new and exciting, recurring columns:

  • Focus on Three – Over the coming months, ITIL® v3 authors will contribute articles, tailored to intro level v3 implementations.  We wish to thank ITIL® Chief Architect, Sharon Taylor, for providing an overview of the v3 transition for the January issue.  Our March issue will feature an article written by one of the Service Operation authors, David Cannon.
  •  Organizational Gatekeeping:  itSMF USA Governance – This column will focus on governance issues relating to itSMF USA as an organization.  President-elect and Governance Chair, Sallie Kennedy, will regularly contribute to this column.

As always, The Forum Committee welcomes your comments and would be particularly interested in hearing from you regarding these new columns. The committee is comprised of some outstanding volunteers and is dedicated to providing you with feature articles that will be of interest to you. The publishing schedule below identifies themes and associated deadlines for future issues. If you wish to contribute an article for an upcoming issue, please send it to me for committee review.

Welcome to Board Member Michael Cardinal, our new Communications Chair. I have worked extensively with Michael on events and know he will be a truly effective addition to the Forum Committee.  I also would like to personally thank Jay Stuart, who served as the 2007 Board Communications Chair and kept the Forum Committee on a steady course.  Jay is now a member of the itSMF USA Executive Committee, serving as the organization’s Secretary.  Under the guidance of our new President, David Cannon, I’m confident that 2008 will be a year of continued growth and success for itSMF USA.  If you are interested in joining The Forum Committee, please let me hear from you!

Best regards,
Susan Trembly, Editor
