the Federal holiday, the House and the Senate remain in session this week in attempts to resolve the
debt ceiling crisis and, perhaps, reopen the Federal Government. This week the House will consider the American
Indian and Alaska Native, Health, Education, and Safety Act. The Senate
will consider judicial nominations, as well as a motion to proceed to consider S. 1569, which would suspend the limit on federal borrowing through Dec. 31,
The schedule for the remainder of the week has yet to be
determined. Because this was a scheduled recess week for both chambers
and because committee staffs have been operating at reduced staff levels for
the past two weeks, there are no hearings scheduled.

|Bill Cheney to visit Alabama next week|
Credit unions across Alabama and the Florida panhandle have an opportunity to meet with CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney next week. Cheney and LSCU & Affiliates President/CEO Patrick La Pine will hold a series of meetings across the state from Oct. 22-25.
Credit unions are encouraged to attend the meetings to ask questions and to learn more about the pressing issues facing credit unions from a national perspective.
