Alabama Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey to speak at LDC Luncheon

Make plans today to join the League for the Governmental Affairs (GA) Luncheon at this year's Leadership Development Conference (LDC) on Nov. 7, beginning at 12:15 p.m. This year's speaker will be Alabama Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey.

Kay Ivey successfully sought the office of lieutenant governor in the 2010 election. In doing so, she became the second woman, and the first Republican woman in Alabama history, to be elected to the post of lieutenant governor. A Camden, Ala. native and a 1967 graduate of Auburn University, Ivey has had a career in the private sector (as a banker and assistant hospital administrator), as well as a career in public service (as a high school teacher and as reading clerk of the Alabama House of Representatives).

The GA Luncheon is an annual event held at the LDC in which all registered attendees are invited to listen to elected or government officials speak on pressing needs and concerns in Alabama or Florida. Past speakers include former Alabama Congressman Jo Bonner and former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Assistant Director Elizabeth Vale.

The GA Luncheon is free for LDC registered attendees and $50 per guest. Visit the LDC website to register.

Tweet(s) of the week

Each week the League looks at its Twitter feed and pulls out a couple of examples of what is being "tweeted." It's a good way to find credit unions and partners to follow.

Follow the NCUA board meetings on Twitter for real time updates during the meeting. As shown here, electronic filing of financial reports passed. Follow NCUA Twitter by clicking here.

LEVERAGE partner CO-OP Financial Services  tweets out a message for Don't Tax My Credit Union. This is a good example of what credit union partners do for the movement. You can follow CO-OP on Twitter by clicking here.
