CUNA risk based capital video

In an effort to better understand the new risk based capital rule proposed by the NCUA, CUNA has posted a new video with interviews from credit unions and CUNA staff. The video is one of a number of resources CUNA has to help credit union see the full proposal and to help them analyze its impact. Click the video to the right or follow this link.

The video is about ten minutes and features members of CUNA’s Executive Committee, Dennis Pierce, Susan Streifel, Rod Staatz, and Maurice Smith, along with senior CUNA staff. Feel free to share with your board and staff. Visit the CUNA website for more risk based capital resources.

•    Has a CU demonstrated the credit union "People-Helping-People" philosophy by helping your CU whether it was providing training, donating equipment, assisting with the implementation of new products or services, operational guidance, or other services?

If you answered yes to one of more of the questions, then you know someone or a CU that deserves to be recognized.

Form 990 tax return compliance deadline approaching

Form 990 is required for most organizations exempt from income tax under section 501(c) to help prevent abuse and enforce financial accountability, the form also provides the public with financial information and is often the only source of such information. Although federal credit unions are not required to file Form 990, they may choose to file the Form 990T which can provide a credit for certain federal excise taxes paid or for small employer health insurance premiums paid. Both forms must be completed and filed by May 15 each year.

With the 2013 Form 990 instructions tallying 99 pages, you can trust LEVERAGE's credit union-certified field experts to save you time and ensure your form is completed accurately. They understand the filing requirements and the specifics of the various Form 990s (990-PF, 990-N, 990-EZ, and 990).

The LEVERAGE audit and consulting team offers a complete menu of financial and compliance audits. To request a proposal or schedule Form 990/Form 990T preparation assistance, contact a LEVERAGE Business Development Consultant today.
