CBO Analysis of AHCA Effects; House Expected to Vote on Thursday
Late in the afternoon of March 13, 2017, the Congressional Budget Office (COB) issued a cost estimate on the House Republican Leadership American Health Care Act (AHCA). CBO predicts that, if AHCA is enacted as currently written, the number of uninsured would grow by 14 milion in 2018 and by 24 million by 2026. The law would reduce the federal budget by $337 billion of the 2017-2026 timeframe. Yesterday, MMA President-elect Jabbar Fazeli, M.D. joined Congresswoman Chellie Pingree at a healthcare Town Meeting in Westbrook to express MMA's concern about the bill as proposed. Read More
