MMA Membership to Consider Bylaw Amendments Establishing Student and Resident Sections at Annual Meeting

The vote will take place during the annual business meeting of the membership which will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 am on Saturday morning, Sept. 8, 2018.  The meeting takes place in the Pool Building adjacent to the Bar Harbor Club and Harborside Hotel.  All MMA members are invited to attend and there is no registration fee to attend the business meeting.  The registration fee to attend the Saturday session including the 3.5 hours of CME is $100.  Registration is available on the MMA website (see related article on Annual Session).

The proposed amendment to the bylaws has been posted to the Association website and can be reviewed there.  Or, a copy can be sent to any member requesting the language.  Simply send your request to Diane McMahon at dmcmahon@mainemed.com.
Medical Students in the Tufts University School of Medicine - Maine Track and and the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine have been meeting regularly as a group and participating in MMA activities.  Officers have been elected and several events have already taken place, but the vote at the Annual Meeting is required to officially establish the role of medical students in the organization.  The proposed amendment also authorizes the creation of a resident section which, if passed, will be formed in 2019.  Both sections will have an active role in the sections of the AMA.
