MMA Headquarters Undergoing Major Renovations

The Frank O. Stred Building is undergoing the most substantial renovations since it was built in 1987.  The focus of the renovation project is the large conference room (the board room) on the second floor of the building.  The project has three phases which have been approved by the MMA board.  The first phase will make the building accessible to individuals with disabilities by the installation of railings leading to the front entrance and an automatic door.  It includes installation of a wheelchair lift to the second floor.  Within the large conference room itself, the first phase renovations include two new air conditioning units, a new ceiling and improved lighting, and new electrical wiring to support a state-of-the-art AV system.  This phase also replaces the ceilings and lighting throughout the offices on the first floor.  Phase 2 of the project is the AV system designed to improve meeting participants' experience when they come in person and for those who must participate remotely.  Phase 3 of the project will be new carpet, paint, window treatments, and furniture in the large conference room.

The renovation project is overseen by an Ad Hoc Committee of board members Richard Flowerdew, M.D., Michael Parker, M.D., and Susan Woods, M.D. and staffed by Diane McMahon and Andrew MacLean.  J.F. Scott Construction of Waterville is the General Contractor and Pro AV of Portland has designed and will install the AV system.

We expect the project to be complete in the early Fall.  Enjoy the "under construction" pictures below!

The front walk is being prepared for the addition of ADA compliant hand rails.

Interior modifications include improved lighting in all work and public spaces along with replacement of irreparable ceiling tiles.
