George J. Mitchell and Michael Botticelli to Keynote MMA's 165th Annual Session this Weekend in Bar Harbor
The Honorable George J. Mitchell and Michael Botticelli will speak at the meeting which convenes with an opening night reception on Friday evening, Sept. 7, at the Poolhouse of the Harborside Hotel. Although the hotel room block is sold out, it is not too late to register for the meeting and receive a list of alternative accommodations. Registration is available on the MMA website at www.mainemed.com.
CMS proposes to allow step therapy protocols in Medicare Advantage Plans beginning in January 2019.
Last Thursday the Maine Legislature killed LD 1919, which would have criminalized a failure to report suspected child abuse or neglect, and passed several other bills seeking to change the way the State of Maine deals with such cases.
Decreases in hospitalizations for serious cardiac conditions have been found to be linked to increased insurance access under the Affordable Care Act, with greater decreases in states which have expanded Medicaid.
All professionals licensed by the Board of Licensure in Medicine (MDs and PAs licensed by that board) are advised to remember that they are required by Board rule to have taken three hours of opioid CME by December 31, 2018, even if they do not and will not prescribe opioids.
