George J. Mitchell and Michael Botticelli to Keynote MMA's 165th Annual Session this Weekend in Bar Harbor

Four and one-half CME hours are available at the meeting with an additional three hours offered for the opioid prescribing course (required by law every two years).
Former U.S. Senator and Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell served in the United States Senate from 1980 to 1995. He left the Senate in 1995 as the Senator Majority Leader, a position he had held since January, 1989. Senator Mitchell served as Chairman of the Peace Negotiations in Northern Ireland and under his leadership, the governments of Ireland and the United Kingdom and the political parties of Northern Ireland agreed to the historic Good Friday peace accord. At the Request of President Bill Clinton, Senator Mitchell served as chairman of an International Fact Finding Committee on violence in the Middle East. In 2009, President Obama appointed Senator Mitchell as Special Envoy for the Middle East. MMA is proud to have Senator Mitchell keynote the Friday evening opening session.
Michael Botticelli will keynote the Saturday morning session. He will speak at 10:00am following the General Membership meeting. Mr. Botticelli currently serves as Executive Director of the Grayken Center for Addiction at Boston Medical Center. He is one of the nation's leading addiction experts and served as the Director of National Drug Control Policy at the White House under President Obama. He previously served as Director of the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The Annual Session concludes on Sunday morning with a Gubernatorial Forum featuring three of the four candidates running for Governor. The Forum will be held from 9:00 to 10:30am Sunday morning following a one hour CME program featuring four physicians in Maine who are serving in executive capacities at hospitals in the state.
Presiding at the meeting will be MMA President Robert Schlager, M.D. Dr. Schlager is a family physician serving as Vice President, Senior Physician Executive of Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield.

Note that the various parts of the Annual Session will be taking place at the Poolhouse behind the Bar Harbor Club, not in the Club building itself (except for the Friday MICIS session, which will be in the Club).
