Kennebec Anesthesia Associates PA seeks an Anesthesiologist to work in Augusta and Waterville, Maine. The Anesthesiologist is responsible for administering and overseeing the administration of anesthetics during surgical, endoscopic, and radiological procedures. The Anesthesiologist provides analgesic services to obstetric patients, surgical patients, and medical patients with acute pain problems and provides advanced life supporting treatments in support of providers in the intensive care unit and emergency departments. The Anesthesiologist is responsible for the preoperative evaluation and assessment of perioperative risk, preoperative preparation of the patient for anesthesia, monitoring and treating patients before, during, and after anesthesia and treating adverse reactions or complications intraoperatively and postoperatively. The Anesthesiologist decides when patients have recovered or stabilized enough to be sent to another room or ward or to be sent home following outpatient surgery; coordinates administration of anesthetics with surgeons during operations; confers with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anesthetic or sedation to render patient insensible to pain; and coordinates and directs work of nurses, medical technicians, and other health care providers. The minimum experience and educational requirements for this position are a M.D. or D.O. degree; State of Maine Medical License; and immediate eligibility for Board certification in anesthesiology.
