MMA's Gordon Smith Named Maine's Director of Opioid Response Last Thursday, Governor Janet Mills announced the appointment of Gordon Smith, the Maine Medical Association's Executive Vice President, to serve as Maine's Director of Opioid Response. the rising cost of prescription drugs, the AMA has released a two-page
advocacy document "Improving Prescription Drug Price and Cost Transparency"
which outlines specific policy proposals aimed at each of the key
players involved in drug pricing: pharmaceutical companies, pharmacy
benefit managers (PBMs) and health insurers. Read More
Research is showing a concerning increase in the prescription of benzodiazepine medication, with about half of all such prescriptions coming from primary care physicians.
