AMA President Patrice Harris, M.D., a practicing psychiatrist from Atlanta and current chair of the AMA Opioid Task Force has been added as a speaker at the Governor’s Opioid Response Summit being held on Monday, July 15 at the Augusta Civic Center. Dr. Harris will be part of a panel in the afternoon plenary session that will discuss opioid response strategies that have been successful in New England and around the country.  She will also participate in the afternoon breakout session on opioid prescribing. Registration is available at the Opioid Summit website. There is a $40 registration fee. Nearly 800 persons have already registered so if you are interested I attending, don’t delay.

Other speakers include Sam Quinones, author of the best selling book Dreamland and former White House Drug czar Michael Botticelli. Governor Mills, Commissioner Lambrew and recently appointed ME CDC Director Nirav Shah, M.D., J.D. will also speak.
