Legislative News...or Is It Legislative? A Big Year for People's Vetoes
We understand that approximately 17 applications have been filed for people's veto petitions relating to bills passed by the Legislature this session and signed by the Governor. There are five relating to medical issues, of which the vaccine exemption bill, LD 798 (now PL 2019 chapter 154) is one.

While laws eliminating nonmedical exemptions for vaccine requirements lead to higher medical exemption rates, they also lead to a drop in the rate of non-immunized children.
Nominations are due by Wednesday, July 31 for the 2019 Mary Cushman, MD Award for Exceptional Humanitarian Service as a Medical Volunteer.
