2nd Annual Opioid Response Summit - Compassion, Community, Connection

On July 23, Governor Mills hosted the Second Annual Opioid Response Summit with nearly 1,000 people participating in the virtual event which featured a fireside chat by former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, M.D.

The theme of the 2020 summit was Compassion, Community, Connection. The program included the voices of persons in recovery, presentations, a poster session, and remarks by Governor Mills, Director of Opioid Response Gordon Smith, Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah, Attorney General Aaron Frey and Dr. Jessica Pollard, Director of the Office of Behavioral Health Maine.

The annual summit is part of the state's commitment to fighting the opioid epidemic, and convened leaders from around Maine to share ideas, strategies, and best practices to help Maine people affected by this crisis. The 3rd Annual Opioid Response Summit will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 in Bangor.
