American Academy of Physician Assistants Votes to Change Title: Physician Associate

The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) House of Delegates this week voted to change their title to Physician Associate.

To effectuate this change, each affiliate organization will also need to adopt the change and every state will need to change the title through state law or rulemaking.

Note: The AAPA has indicated in its media release, “It is inappropriate for PAs to hold themselves out as “physician associates” at this time until legislative and regulatory changes are made to incorporate the new title.”

Here is a link to AAPAs media release.
