Registration open for MMA’s 168th Annual Membership Meeting (Sep 10-12)
When the COVID-19 pandemic stalled travel and eliminated in
person meetings, MMA leaders quickly adjusted and took the 2020 meeting online.

FDA to revise vaccine fact sheets on increased risk of myocarditis The FDA announced Friday they will revise the patient and provider fact sheets for the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines regarding the suggested increased risks of myocarditis and pericarditis following vaccination. Secretary of State, Shenna Bellows is asking the Maine Medical Association tom provide recommendations to fill vacancies on the Medical Advisory Board for licensing drivers in the State of Maine. The Medical Advisory Board is comprised of physicians and motor vehicle staff and consists of 8-10 physicians from various specialties. State law requires the board include the specialties of cardiology, gerontology, internal medicine, neurology or neurosurgery, ophthalmology. Psychiatry, family medicine, and rehabilitative medicine. The board advises the Secretary of State on matters relating to medical conditions, vision standards, and driving. The board, or individuals may also be asked to evaluate reports submitted by clinicians on whether a person is medically competent to operate a motor vehicle on public roads. By law, the board must meet at least every 2 years, but traditionally has met twice a year, usually on the first Friday of April and November from noon to 3:00 p.m. Expense reimbursement is provided.
